USS POINT REYES ~ COASTAL SHIP ~ NORTH CALIFORNIA
P OINT REYES ~ PENINSULA OF KINGS
O I WAS so proud to merit that perfect NAME
I WAS the Coast Guard Craft which ensured that .........
N O SHIP perished against our rocky shore !
T HE pride of the fleet launched in 1950
R EGAL and stalwart agianst all weather
E VERYONE respected ME and Captain TOM !
Y OU felt we would last forever ~ But
E VERY ship has its day ~ and is finally
S CRAPPED ~ RECYCLED ~ BUT NOT A RUSTING HULK !

- Comment from author about the poem: POINT CLEAR ~ is in Northern California 30 miles WNW of San Francisco. ENGLAND is a Maritime Nation and we are very proud of our Shipping Heritage ~ even in an oblique way of The SS Titanic ! I was sad when I saw the oncc proud SS QUEEN MARY beached at Long Beach California ~ her former glory mothballed ! However I was even sadder to see the rusting hulk of the elegant USS POINT REYES also ironically in CALIFORNIA ! EHJOY and please shed a tear for all decommissioned ~ once proud SHIPS. Love to All ~ BRIAN XOX

Welcome. I used to live on the East coast and loved visiting the shipyards
Love those old ships with beautiful architecture. Thanks.
Thanks "A" ~ that is true ~ the modern Cruise Liners are tacky compared with the Titanic and the Queen Mary etc. Progress seems to eliminate "Class" ~ BRIAN
My favorite line was "you felt we would last forever" the wording of it. Thanks for sharing~silver
