Gone
To Doc.
By Sharon Moemise
I searched through sheaves of paper
But found nought
I searched amongst the non existents
Cos so I thought
I looked left, right then all around
But I saw none
I found the notice in a small paragraph, saying
That you were gone.
My heart sank to my lowest point
How I miss you
I was searching so long just to let u know
That I love you
The time I wasted can never be gained
So I'll let you be.
Be at peace wherever you may have gone
Just please remember me

- Comment from author about the poem: Doc was not only his name. He was a Doctor in Academia. A brilliant man who cared for the environment. We met many many years ago and became friends. He inspired me to want to be more than I am in life. Some years ago, he invited me to his new farm he bought in the outskirts of Swaziland. I was still working in an industry where one hardly had time for oneself. I guess that was an excuse I used when something good beckoned. I wish now I went. Just about a year before I found his death notice, I started calling the number I had for him. It kept ringing, sometimes it would seem as though someone picked up, but never spoke. I sent messages and never got a respond. Then I began tracking his whereabouts via the Internet, but it was as if he'd vanished. Till I found the notice. I'm still not so sure if they got the right person, but I know that he's gone. I had my chance and I blew it.

THANKS SHARON ~ Each of your beautiful poems tells a story and NEVER disappoints. Our genre for this one is BITTER~SWEET. Thanks for your instructive comment ! As you know ~ sometimes people cross our paths and we know them without ever meeting them. For you such a one was DOC ! A Man wih a brilliant mind dedicated to his love and care for the environment. I guess you could have made sweet music together and there is a sad poignancy in your phrase "H'es gone I had my chance and blew it." Thanks for sharing and caring ~ thinking of you Love & Hugs ~ BRIAN XOX
Thanks Brian. He was one of the good guys whom I might have learned to love as he obviously did. I guess it's a case of "too little, too late".
Very beautiful and touching. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Francesco
