The grey clouds come
To lay their blankets of snow
On the cold, dying Earth.
They don't understand why their gifts will not help.
The more they give, the less the Earth receives.
But still they snow on.
For four hard months, they cover the land.
In an effort to save the man.
Every second they get smaller and drift along.
Giving their all to make what they love strong.
But nothing is working, the place is still dead,
And finally accepting defeat, they hang low their head.
They begin to cry, tears falling from the sky.
But the rain helps! Washing the cold away.
The flowers pop up, the kids come out to play.
The clouds hard work, their love of the Earth,
Made them not stop caring no matter it's hurt.

Thanks MM ~ for a lovely first poem ~ reminding us of the passage of the Seasons form Winter to the Spring. We ahve to acknowledge that the snow insulates the ground and prevents it freezing and keeps the soil breathing and the insects and microorganisms alive and preparing the soil for Spring. The snow also provides a reservoir of water for Spring irrigation ! Thanks for sharing ~ pleae check my poems ~ Yours BRIAN
