Reflections

when I looked in the mirror

i was mad as can be

for the girls in the mirror

could not have been me

she had the the hair

she had the eyes

she had fair skin

she was full of surprise

but that girl wasn't me

how could she be

that girl was sad

that girl wasn't free

this girl had a smile

and no one could see

the face of denial

she was ready to flee

the face of a girl

no one could see

her mind in a whirl

this girl in the mirror, who was she to me

WELCOME TOO DEEP (great pen name) Thanks for your first poem which is DEEP but not TOO DEEP ! Mirrors are useful but can be "dangerous" because often (for a variety of reasons) we don't always relate to the person who looks back at us ! I'm 33 so I have had long enough to come to terms with who I am ~ but I don' t always recognise myself ~ especially early in the morning (its 7:30 am here !). Thanks for challenging poem ~ Yours BRIAN
