Waiting

Natalie Chew

I stand in the rain

Feeling every drop that hits me

It ignites a torch in my heart

Like every time you kiss me

So proud of who you are

And honored your with me

Treat you like a King

And smile cuz you complete me

I'll fight for your honor

Protect you from the enemy

The first time I saw you

I fell in love instantly

My reason for breathing

My overall destiny

I'll never be able to rest

Until I have you next to me

Waiting my entire life

For the man that's best for me

You may have missed apart of me

But now you got the rest of me

Loyal to the end

Baby you got the recipe

A little sprinkle on my lips

I'm staring at you obsessively

Grab you by your body

Pull you real close to me

Everything you ever wanted

Just a little taste of me.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is very personal and its close to home. I wrote it for my husband who is doing time. We have been through so much but nevertheless I am waiting for the day when he gets to come home to me.
