A Knock On the Door

Ternic73

A knock on the door no one wants to receive
Men in uniform, families grieve
Fought so bravely your soldier did
Your country thanks him for his sacrifice
To give us our freedom, he gave his life
Buried with honors he will receive
His family and brothers continue to grieve
Folded up flag and a generals profound thanks
Tears flow from my eyes, my heart sank
So many soldiers gave their lives
Fathers, sons, brothers and wives
A knock on the door no one wants to receive
Pray your soldier survives, we believe
This war needs to end , so no more families have to grieve
We will never forget those we've lost
Fighting a battles at such a great cost

This is a great message. Nicely done. Misspelled last word.

Thanks TERESA for another awesome poem ~ straight from your loving heart ~ about the price of PEACE. Because the USA & UK want Global Peace we have to pay the price. Without the shedding of Blood there can be no Remission. Te structure of you poem is elegant. Good meter (nice to recite) and (mainly) rhyming couplets. Thanks for caring and sharing ~ Hugs ~ BRIAN.
