- Comment from author about the poem: I have always loved NEW YEAR'S EVE and NEW YEAR'S DAY. In the Community I was raised in we always had a New Year's Eve Party in the Church ~ then THE WATCH NIGHT SERVICE from 11 pm to midnight. Then we would go FIRST FOOTING to visit Friends & Relations to let the NEW YEAR IN ! It had to be a MALE who stepped in the house first and we would take a LOG (or COAL) for the fire and a Bottle of something to drink. This custom is especially strong in Scotland where New Year is known as Hogmanay and also in the North of England. Different Countries have different New Year traditions ~ what are yours ? I used to celebrate Hogmanay many yrs ago, as a kid. Was great times. Its more of a quiet time for me now. Im happy as you said new yr new start. Plans ect. Focused on my community and family loved ones. Love is such a special gift and I practice it every day with a smile and a hello. Passing on the positive approach I have to life. Took a while to get there, but got there eventually lol. Loved the words. Lyrics are my thing. As is yours have a great new year 🎇🎆 ❤
