ERUPTION

Michael Edwards

ERUPTION

A vast empty landscape,

a basalt black vista,

a gnarled wizened tree

precariously clinging,

contorted and gaunt,

it’s very existence

soon to be broken

as plates start converging,

diverging,

then rupture

releasing

the hot bubbling lava

encrusting

the bleak lonely landscape

with fiery glow.

I can visualize the lava destroying all in its path in the dark of night. Very sad, but beautiful. And, again, beautiful artwork! Happy New Year!
