IN TIMES PAST ~ Man worshipped the Sun
Not out of ignorance ~ but out of awe
It rose each morning and set each evning
With a 24 hour precision ~ and provided heat & light !
Today we understand the Solar System and Nuclear Fusion
Which powers the Sun ~ so we no longer worship the Sun
BUT ~ We do worship GOD who designed the SOLAR SYSTEM..
IN TIMES PAST ~ Man worshipped the Mountains
And some still consider specific Mountains as Sacred today.
Through our study of Geology we learn how the Mountains
Were formed and are always changing by erosion and shift.
So we no longer worhsip the Mountains and Volcanoes
BUT ~ we do worship GOD who designed and shaped the Earth
IN TIMES PAST ~ Man worshiped the Oceans and the Moon
He worshiped the power and force of the waves and tides
Also the Moon whose gravity caused those tides to ebb and flow.
Today through our knowledge of Environmental Science ~ we understand
The Water Cycle and other Natural Cycles essential for a living Planet.
IN THE PAST ~ Man was in awe of and even worshipped the abundant
And varied Plant and Animal life that he shared the Earth with !
Today we understand Ecology ~ Food Chains & Food Webs and the ......
Symbiosis between the Flora & Fauna and Mans place in the natural order.
Today we worship GOD who created MAN in His likeness ~ AMEN

I am a CHRISTIAN and an ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST. The Bible teaches
me that Planet eart was designed and created by GOD to be a living Planet.
In my studies I see Beauty ~ Purpose ~ Order and Design and not Chaos
and Blind Chance. The Heavens declare the Glory of GOD and Planet
Earth demonstrates his unique creative Power. I look through a Telescope
and GOD is there ~ through Microscope and GOD is there as well ~ AMEN

- Comment from author about the poem: The first verse in the BIBLE states ~ In the beginning ~ GOD created the Heavens and Planet Earth ~ Genesis 1 v 1. Planet Earth is very unique a special planet ~ a Living Planet ~ the only one we have (so far) found in our Galaxy ~ The Milky Way. there are billions of Planets ~ but only one is a Living Planet ~ Planet Earth. On Christmas Eve 1968 all the Crew of Apollo 8 circumnavigated the barren Moon and then in turn quoted from Genesis 1 verses 1 to 10 Anders ~ Lovell ~ Boreman. This was because even from 250,000 miles they could see (compared with the Moon) that the Earth was a Living Planet. They read from Their Gideon Bible ~ which they had taken with them. I was moved to shout HALLELUJAH when I read about this and saw the Film. The Men who flew to the Moon glorifyiing GOD as Creator. Buzz Aldrin ~ the second Man to walk on the Moon ~ was a Presbyterian Elder and celebrated Communion on the surface of the Moon ! Wonderful write! Yes, I too see the creator in the mountains, moon and stars, etc. I also do not believe in blind chance.His creations are awe inspiring! Marvelous piece!
