The Years Go By

Jarid

Oh how the years go by. I think of the times past.
I reminisce of good times, but they don't always last.

Oh how the years go by. I sit and contemplate.
In the mirror I stand and stare at this lonely face.

Oh how the years go by. I remember my first car.
I remember being full of pride thinking I'm a star.

Oh how the years go by. I miss those who have died.
I think of them. I'm missing them. A tear comes from my eye.

Oh how the years go by. My hair has now turned gray.
I'm getting old and I feel frail; afraid I'd see this day.

Oh how the years go by. I'm now on my deathbed.
My strength has gone. I'm so weak. I now lay back my head.

Oh how the years go by. I am about to cease.
I wave goodbye and close my eyes. I now shall rest in peace.

I sit and contemplate. I think how time passes and how days go by. This is of course a magic of nature. Standing before mirror amazes mind finding reflection. Watching lonely face conveys many messages. Years come and go away. Hair turns in to grey. Memory remains with us. A very thoughtful and excellent poem you have shared.
