DEATH OF A DIVA

tadpole

She wore diamonds of despair in her hair

pearls of paranoia  in her curls

but the hole within her soul

could not be filled with gold

nor yet with all the riches in the world.

She wore her deceit just like a badge

and a million stars shone within her tears

but her ever failing health

could not hide behind her wealth

it was plastic that was holding back the years.

She had left a trail of havoc in her wake

with no thought to those she left behind

now she is dying all alone

in her million dollar home

wondering why on earth the world was so unkind.

WELCOME TADPOLE ~ Thanks for your first poem. It is elegant in its structure replete with rhyme (great rhyming pattern (xabba etc) and rhythm ~ great to recite. The subject however is sad but very true ~ I have met some DIVAS ! The morale of your poem must be "Do unto others ~ as you would be done by". Thanks for sharing Yours BRIAN ~ Please check my poems ~ Thanks B.

Welcome to MPS! Great poem! Sounds like someone who favored riches in her lifetime rather than family or love. Tragic but very well written!--Christina
