yesteryear
eclipsed my horizons
anchored in heavy rain pour
flooded soul deep with an unhealthy
passion for doubt
a
happiness
drought cracked my
spirit
I was broken…
can’t
recall when last love resided inside
where a chill filled spaces warmth left behind
and trust withered and
died
It'd
be a lie
if…
I
said
I never cried
or…
fear
never brewed
in me
at
times
I
went
through the motions
of…
scarcely
living throughout days
and nights, months and years
wind blown to and
fro
no body knew…
life’s
wear and tear
left me toddler-like for a second time
afraid to take a single step
holding
on
(tight)
for
dear
life
balancing
between past and present like pieces of
furniture waiting for
wobbling legs to
steady
innocence…
is
a sense
I often missed
when guarding got too
intense
finally
I wrapped my head around
the importance of
a sunrise
a
brand new
day
gives birth to fresh
beginnings
a
chance to make
a change
I
saw
a
sunrise
and…
I
rose
to
meet
it

Good morning Damaged Soul, I too, am a fan of happy ending. I'm thankful and encouraged you enjoyed my poem.
Felt good reading this!
WriteBeLight, I'm so happy what I write can evoke a good feeling. It's what makes it all worthwhile Thank you!
beautifully woven words interlaced with pain and a hope of everlasting happiness with that sunrise! i love the physical layout of the poem ~ how it goes down and down as you read it.....made me feel sort of like i was walking on a long journey with a happy ending.
