Til The Next Day

poetboy123

Blood's pumping, heart's racing

Sweat's dripping, breath's quickening

Lights seeming brighter than they used to be

Losing myself to the future awaiting me

Time just used to be an illusion

My hands would just twiddle their thumbs

In over my head a million questions

Finally after so long until it comes

Gritting my teeth

Grabbing my chair

Holding down the pain beneath

Forced to be unbelievably aware

Almost instantly I'm stormed with

Uncertainty flooding through my veins

Saving the feeling as it rests in my pith

Unready to brace the unyielding pain

All of a sudden a new part of me

Fills with excitement and fury

I'll be the best

and beat the rest

I bring with me my two weapons

My sun and moon, my joy and sorrow

Charging through feeling chosen

Like a river I let them flow

In my hand I hold my dreams

From which upon I'll find the seam

Within my heart I cusp my hope

Pledging to do more than cope
And although these inner demons won't die

I'll stay stubborn as a rock yet soaring through the sky
