Love In The Shadow

WriteBeLight

So, lookee here,

What do you know!

Groundhog Phil’s

Got a wife in tow.

Left the top-hatted men,

Running around harried.

Not letting on,

He went off to get married.

Now, Phil’s back at work,

To provide a prediction.

How long we’ll have,

Cold-weather conditions.

Men of the Inner Circle,

Every year at the den,

Stand by Phil and wife,

As the announcement begins.

But, it is not the sun,

Making Phil’s eyes blinded,

Squinting from the sparkle,

Of his new wife’s diamond.

With that look of love,

On their furry faces,

Suddenly the two,

In a kissing embrace.

As they smooch and smooch,

Lovely newlyweds.

Only thoughts of each other,

Fill their Groundhog heads.

So, will Phil predict,

If he sees his shadow?

Way these two behave,

We may never know.

For they are not cold,

And, don’t care how long,

The cold weather will stay,

Their hearts keep them warm.

But, I hope no shadow,

More Winter would suck.

Yet, in reality, anyway,

I don’t give a Wood Chuck.

Aw bless them - we don't have them in the UK but I've seen them in the States and have a soft spot for them - nice one WBL

Thanks. I appreciate that. Groundhogs are not very well liked with farmers and other people who garden. But, they are kind of cute. Thanks Michael!

I guess Phil saw his shadow this morning. I watched it and he was an angry bugger 🙂 He was knawing on the handler\'s glove. I thought for sure he was going to give him a big bite on the hand. Nonetheless, 6 weeks of Winter. Thanks Christina!
