Rocky and Zumba

Philip

Rocky and Zumba were our pets

young and active mice.

They ran around and munched their food

their coats were very nice

As they grew old they slowed a bit

but still were very fit.

They loved their new and bigger cage

around it they did flit.

Both our friends grew really old and Rocky finally died

old Zumba soldered on a bit

Im sure he must have cried.

On his death the two old pals

were put into a boat.

A new adventure started as

they were set afloat.

We watched them as they sailed away

bobbing on a wave.

Much nicer being snuggled up

than lying in a grave.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Rocky and Zumba were my son's pet mice. When they died we made a very small boat and all went down to the river Crouch where we watched then float right out to sea. I wrote this poem for him.
