OUTBURST

Michael Edwards

OUTBURST

Arrayed in guise of temperament

a savage burst of anger wells,

its tapers kindling discontent

propelling into fires that burn

to claim dominion of the mind.

But as the deflagration dies,

amid the ashes of abstraction,

unremitting thoughts are forged

in self-fulfilling prophecies.

See you when you get back. Very thoughtful poem. Lovely painting, too.

Thanks so much WBL - I love abstract paintings which make you use your noddle (brain) and so it is with poetry. I love work which although not totally abstract is sufficiently so to challenge the reader and make him (her) think, anyway that's what this is intended to do.

The Outburst is fittingly appropriate for the moment. Safe trip.

I see the "Outburst" in your painting and the "abstraction" in your verse. Wonderful together and separate. Enjoy your break, filled with inspiration hopefully. - Phil A.
