Piel Canela

Augustus

She stopped,

A flick of a curl.

I hesitated.

What kind of girl?

Ah–Music, Merengue,

Alluring cinnamon skin–

Murmurs all over

of love again.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Piel Canela in Spanish is skin with a cinnamon tone. A musical mambo by that same name was popularized by Puerto Rican singer songwriter Bobby Capo in the 1950's. Merengue is a type of music and dance that originated in the Dominican Republic but is popular throughout Latin America.

Thanks Tyler. I've got a long winded one I'm working on, however. But I do like brevity. I spend half my time figuring out how to cut words out.

You got it! And the intro from the author denotes this as "fantasy". At my age the lady in the photo would barely give me the time of day. Thanks.

Thanks "A" ~ A very sensuous poem ameliorated with a perfect picture. I love the taste and scent of Cinnamon ~ BUT ~ the taste and scent of "Piel Canela" would put me on a higher Astral Plane ! Thanks for caring and sharing ~ BRIAN
