An Angels Hymn (+3)

Kurt Philip Behm

The light burns brightest,

that burns within

The embers warm,

as memory dims

That final verse,

an Angel’s hymn

The light burns brightest,

—that burns within

The Encore

Are you now denied all access

Has your ticket long been punched

Is your fear stuck in the alley

Intermezzo—out to lunch

Will you even see the picture

From the far end of the line

Would a curtain serve to raise your hopes

Can a loser ever shine

The doorman calls “It’s Showtime”

As the lights all start to dim

An usher cries “There’s One Seat Left”

You madly rush within

With eyes now strained in darkness

You find that one last chair

And on the stage, hope kisses fear,

—all encores yours to share

My Crutch

I’ve written now a thousand Poems,

in search of just that one

Each word to slay the demon time,

each phrase my soul undone

I’ve come so close a hundred nights,

to see but not to touch

Then left to limp between the lines,

 —their failure now my crutch

My Heart Now Rests

While not belonging anywhere,

beholden then to none

I spread me seeds upon the land,

I let my spirit run

I cast my lot into the air,

direction fate be known

And far beyond prevailing winds,

—my heart now rests atoned

I bet you have written more than a thousand, there again I don't believe you are about the count. As always, inspired.

Thanks A—and you're right—my first two volumes of 'An Anthology Of Perception' are 1100 pages
combined. Volumes 3 & 4 will be out by the end of this year and be another 1500 pages.

You're also right in that I don't count but just feel blessed to be able to keep writing. The Poetry totally dominates the Prose. I have a book (finished) that I have to self-edit and then send to the editor. It's the 5th in 'The Sword Of Ichiban' series. I'm not complaining, but the verse is a bully when it comes to time.

      Thanks as always for reading.

      Kurt
