Fits tune: Battle Hymn
('My eyes have seen the glory')
Based on Exodus 15 v.1 - 21
**********
Sing to the Lord, our Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously
Eygptian horse and rider He has thrown into the sea
His strong right arm, His power, has gained Him the victory
His mighty works we see
Chorus
Praise His glory, praise His greatness!
Trust in Him and He will you bless
He Deliverer, He Saviour
He will our hearts assure
So sang Moses and the Israelites, we join their happy song
For the Lord is our strength, song, and our salvation all day long
When in Exodus the Red Sea parted due to God's wind strong
Yet drowned enemy throng
Chorus
For the enemy as stone did sink, vanished beneath the sea
But God led His people through and gave deliverance, set them free
And now in New Covenant, Jesus redeems you and me
His people for to be
Chorus
Celebrations, songs of joy outburst, Lord none is like to you
You are glorious in holiness, in awe we worship you
You do wonders beyond human means, your works are not a few
You save, redeem, renew
Chorus
Let all rejoice, let all sing praise, victory songs to Him raise
Employ all instruments and voices, high in noble praise
In His wrath He shatters enemies, their foundations does raze
Those Old Covenant days
Chorus

- Comment from author about the poem: Poem 2 of 9 in a 'Songs Theme' series. A bit ambitious, with a 14.14.14.6. format to the verses, and a 7.7.7.6. format to the chorus. Maybe I could have made it into 8 lines each verse, but it seemed OK with the longer lines.

I feel like marching! Very uplifting!
Thanks Write. Ahh you are American! I'm English. Sometimes this is sung too fast, and gabbled, which spoils it I think. Julia Ward Howe wrote the original - a rip-roaring triumphant hymn!
I see. Thanks. Your writing is wonderful at any pace 🙂
Good write Orchi.
One of my favorite hymns. Sang it in highschool choir 60 years ago. Great tribute to powerful music.
Thanks A. Oops bit late me replying!
clearly a winner... although I rather choose to read it as a poem than as a hymn or song, certainly well penned Neville
Thanks N. Quite tricky to write with most lines needing 14 syllables each! You\'ve dug this one out from my list.
I enjoy digging...
You reading/singing me 'hymn-book' on here?! heehee.
I enjoy reading too
