The Bird

SquareGirl

My wings are stiff
They won't move up and down
I can't spread them
I can't leave the ground

I look up above
At everyone flying so high
No matter how far I reach
I can't touch the sky

They look down at me
And say come on let's go
It's beautiful up here
From down there you'll never know

After a time
They seem to give up
They leave me behind
Saying good luck

They think I don't care
That I choose not to fly
But they don't understand
I really do try

My wings are just broken
They can't lift me up
To feel the air beneath me
Is all that I want

Something so small
That they take for granted
To me is a seed
That needs to be planted

With a little help
To get off the ground
I could be flying
And souring around

But they don't see
The broken wings
They never come close enough
They just fly by and sing

I'm a grounded bird
Who dreams of flying
But stuck down here
I'm slowly dieing
