Triumphant Tellings

Fits tune: Hanover

('O Worship The King')

Based on Luke 1 v.46 - 55

********

Mary's triumph song, we sing all day long

The 'Magnificat', we join cheerful throng

For her soul did magnify the Lord sure

Her spirit rejoiced in Him for evermore

For tidings of birth to her announced

She would bear God's Son, it was thus pronounced

And in her thanks grateful she praises outpoured

In humble obedience to her worthy Lord

The Lord He regarded her low estate

He would extol her and make her then great

For behold from henceforth all peoples they would

Call her blessed, it is right, that they all should

For God that is mighty, great things He did

Revealed His plans to her, they were not hid

And holy His name, so did Mary confess

His mercy on those who fear Him, He shall bless

He with His arm strength shows, puts down the proud

E'en though their protests may be sharp and loud

He brings them low, raises the humble on high

Assured of His presence, they know He is nigh

The hungry He fills with good things, fine fare

But the rich and greedy, they have no share

He His servant Israel has helped all along

Remembering His mercy, they sing worship song

His covenant to Abraham He recalled

Did not it forget, and was never stalled

His promise to bless his people for all time

Throughout all life's journey, each season and rhyme

Loved the music. Reminds me of my choir days. Your version is a pleasant addition.
