ODE TO VAN GOGH

Dford1

HIS HEAVY-HANDED ABRUPT STROKES REFUSE TO BE IGNORED.

THE COLORS UNDENIABLY SEIZE YOU.

THOUGH, YOUR EYES, THEY MAY WANDER FOR AN INSTANT, YOU WILL INEVITABLY FOLLOW ITS COMMAND.

HAVING BEEN GENTLY, YET PURPOSEFULLY TOUCHED BY THE TRUE DEFINITION OF 'UNIQUE', YOU FEEL CERTAIN YOU MAY HAVE JUST TAPPED INTO THE COLLECTIVE

CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE STARS.

IN A GESTURE TO THOSE WHO'VE PAID HOMAGE TO HIS ARTISTRY--THE STARS SALUTE THE MOON!

AS VINCENT HUMBLY ASCENDS THE CLOUDS, WE BEGIN TO LOSE SIGHT--

HOPEFUL, WE'LL ENCOUNTER HIM, ON YET ANOTHER--MOONLIT NIGHT!

  • Comment from author about the poem: I WAS ASKED BY BRIAN TO PARTICIPATE IN A FUSED POEM ON MY FAVORITE ARTIST. ALTHOUGH IT IS ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE THAT VAN GOGH IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE--WHAT IS UNDENIABLE TO ME IS THE MAGIC OF HIS PAINTING. I BELIEVE YOU HONESTLY TAKE SOMETHING WITH YOU AFTER YOU'VE WITNESSED HIS WORK.
