Inscrutable Incomparabilities

Fits tune: Regent Square

('Light's abode, celestial Salem')

Based on Romans 11 v.33-36

********

Sing a song unto God's glory

Honourable, worthy, let it be

He who reigns for e'er and ever

He Sovereign, loses sway ne'er

For His glories, bright and shining

Let each creature to Him sing

O the depths, the riches displayed

Both, of His wisdom arrayed

And His knowledge, here fathomless

He with mercies shall us bless

How unsearchable His judgements

Humans fully cannot sense

And His ways past finding out now!

So to Him we humbly bow

For who has mind of the Lord known

Except what He has us shown?

Or who His counsellor has been

What human has all things seen?

Or who has to Him first given

That God should repay Him then?

For 'tis foolish, vanity, pride

There is none but God beside

Never He any man's debtor

Yet He granting man's heart-cure

Praise and glory everlasting

To our God, He is our King

For of Him and though Him, see

And to to Him are all things, be

To whom glory now and ever

All may worship, glorious share
