THE UPS & DOWNS OF LOVE ~ A Doublet Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

 LOVE IS ~

As hot as the midday Sun

As cool as moonlight

As lasting as Mount Rushmore

As transient as the shifting sands

As ferocious as a hungry Tiger

As soft and gentle as a Pussy

As deep as the Pacific Ocean

As shallow as a rain puddle

As faithful as Old Faithful itself

As fickle as the spin of a roulette wheel

As powerful as the torrent of Niagara

As insignificant as a drop of water

As tried and tested as Heaven above

As new as Tenagers in the first flush of LOVE !

  • Comment from author about the poem: As we develop we all experience the sensuality of LOVE and FALLING in LOVE. This sensuality (so i am informed by SENIORS) lasts until the die we die. I have experienced the Agony and Ecstasy of LOVE and I am the wiser for it. In this Sonnet of Doublets I have tried to provide metaphors for the UPS & DOWNS of LOVE ~ from my own experience ! In my current loving relationship I have experienced the ferocity of a TIGER and the gentleness of a KITTEN and both are equally enjoyable. We all enjoy the highs and lows and ins and outs of LOVE and BEING in LOVE. Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love to ALL # BRIAN XOX

This journey through what love can be is so adeptly crafted - impressive array of reasons why we who love should try to keep its freshness alive. A beguiling read Brian.

Thanks for your kind comment FAY ~ It can depend on moods and external pressures but "keeping the freshness of love alive" is the key to a positive loving relationship. This has been so well expressed in many of your elegant poems. Thanks for caring and sharing ~ B

yes Love can be Lovely when right and painful in finding out it's not right?

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES WILLY ~ Love ~ just like everything in life is unpredictable ~ that to some extent is what make it worthwhile ! We must NEVER take Love for granted ! BRIAN

Loved your doublet sonnet. There are indeed many ups and downs to love, no matter how long you've been together. IDK if my current relationship has the lows that are demonstrated here but past ones certainly have. You did a very good job showing the highs and lows of love. Hugs-Christina

Thanks CHRIS as you know I am a Romantic ~ but with an English sense of humour ! As we get older we experience the whole 50 shades of the ups & downs ~ and ins & outs of love. I'm OK at the moment ~ my relationship is all on the plus side (and yours !). Thanks for your comments always appreciated ~ Hugs ~ BRIAN

Interesting for a Bri: Niagra,Old Faithful, Mount Rushmore and Heaven are all in the USA. Heh, heh. Nicely done.

Well "A" these are all things I have been really impressed with in America. Our waterfalls are trickles and we don't have any Old Geysers ! Some parts of America (like the Amish Communities in Pennsylvania) really are Heaven ~ Love the Amish buggies and Puritan style of dress ! Also most of MPS Members are American and it runs on New York time zone ! Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN

This is amazing Brian. Also this means a lot. Since I'm dealing with some stuff about 2 guys. Though I really need to not have a dirty mind 😂😂. It's a great poem. I think you shinned some light in the 6ft hole I've been living in. This has given me some perspective on somethings.
