The Beast

Cryotics

There's a mother
and a father
and their new-born son;
and the beast in his heart awakes.

There's a birthday
and a mother,
but the father never showed;
and the beast in his heart grows fierce.

There's a flask
and it's empty.
Now Mama's been a-sleepin';
and the beast in his heart growls deep.

There's a test
and an F.
He's sure he'll never pass;
and the beast in his heart can't heal.

There's Melatonin
and some Molly
but he's never going to sleep;
and the beast in his heart needs a pill.

There's a liquid
in a needle
that he bought off the street;
and the beast in his heart wants to feel.

Then there's hope
and withdrawals
that leave him shaking in the night;
and the beast in his heart craves more.

There's a thought,
there's a plan
that he came up with in his head;
and the beast in his heart strives to kill.

There's a mom
and a son
with a gun in between them
and the beast in his heart seeks revenge.

There's a bang
of the gun
and her screams echo loud;
and the beast in his heart feels guilt.

There's a gun,
and a blade,
a repentance to be made;
and the beast in his heart grows weak.

So there's a blade
to his wrist
and a gun to his head;
and the beast in his heart wants death.

Blood drips
off the blade,
and the gun drops to the ground;
and the beast in his heart falls still.

    Love this! The repetition of the beast makes it what it is! Extreamly clever, thanks for sharing!

    Such a powerful write, although it is so sad it held me from the start. well done.
