Pictures of You

Edthepoet

I was one last bank job gone wrong
I never meant to cause so much harm
I should have danced to our song when you asked

I was one last roll of the dice
I never meant to make you cry
I should have listened
More than once in a while

Now every word left unsaid
Feels like such a waste of breath
I seem to be locked out of my mind
Maybe I left the key in a previous life
Was it a dream? Was it a lie?

I've searched these memories for truth
But all I seem to do
Is see black and white pictures of you
In a different light.
