Dave The Cat

Philip

We have a cat called Dave

he has a stripy tail.

His attitude is cool

through life he seems to sail.

With mice he is a catcher,

with furniture a scratcher

We have a cat called Dave

he has a stripy tail.

His ears are very big

but he doesn't give a fig.

With food he is a muncher

with paper bags a scruncher.

We have a cat called Dave

he has a stripy tail.

When he wants a stroke

he's quite a friendly bloke

But when he's in a stir

it's "hey don't touch the fur".

We have a cat called Dave

he has a stripy tail.

His whiskers long and fine

his glossy coat sublime.

What does he contribute

simply being sooo.. cute.

We have a cat called Dave

he has a stripy tail.

And we love him.

  • Comment from author about the poem: We acquired an underweight moth eaten kitten and our son called him Dave. Now a healthy young cat ,he has a great personality and I thought a bit of a fun poem for my contribution today.

We had our cats when I was growing up and you have certainly captured their spirit with your poem. Great job!

Ahhh a fine poem. Not an original joke from me, but seen on a pets calendar: 'Dogs have owners; cats have staff!' lol.

Also - we've had various cats. We semi-adopted next-door's cat at he moment. We had a rescue cat too. Sadly only 3 weeks with us as it got very ill, but a peaceful end.

Nice little ditty about your cat. I guess they were put on this Earth to give people a sense of self-reliance and love. - Phil A.
