Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis

Burnish your steely masterpieces

to avant-garde sharpness

while I shake

from my tambourine ideals

and daffodil dreams

now written in

"The Road Not Taken"

rhyme scheme

like a sudden sidecar separation

sets free its curious passenger.

Brandish your manifest showpieces

splattered across the canvass area

while I soft sell

my watered down offerings

re-touched after a kinky side trip

along reefs of dying coral

and nearing the break-in point

of mankind's elastic morals.

Wind your expressionist timepieces

bounteous, deliquescent clocks

while I stand still

with pompadour egotism

and retrogressive abstracts

tattooed across the backs

of crack-whores

sweeping ol' factory floors.

Polish the gems in your diadem.

Downpour your enchanted pearls

while I simply mutter

from the throne of tedium

and racked with a stutter

cowering beneath the medium

petite pajamas for girls, I scream

“Attention customers!

The safety glass is ill tempered.”

Ah - I love the flow and ongoing imagery in this masterclass of poetic wording my friend - I chuckled aloud at that final about "mankind's elastic morals" - how true. ........
