In Judah's land God is right known

His name great in Israel, there shown

In Salem, tabernacle fair

God's dwelling place in Zion there

Zion, that mount in holy land

Where Temple of the Lord did stand

The tribes they gathered worshipping

There they did praise, there to Him sing

There brake He the weapons of war

Arrows, bow, shield, sword, evermore

Ended the battles, showed His power

He was glorious all, each hour

More glorious, excellent you are

Than all great mountains, yes by far

The stout-hearted are spoiled, they sleep

But you your people you do keep

None of the men of might have found

Their strength, they all have gone to ground

At your rebuke, O God of hosts

Horse, chariot, rider sleep, no boasts*

You, even you, are to be feared

And who unto you dare be neared

When once you are angry, reproved

Who may stand in your sight unmoved?

You did cause judgement to be heard

From heaven, earth feared, heard your word

[The earth] Was still, when God He did arise

To save all those meek in His eyes

Surely the wrath of man shall praise

You, and you worthy honour raise

The remainder of wrath you shall

Restrain, that it no evil tell

Come, now unto the Lord God pay

Your vows, bring Him presents today

He the One to be feared, he ought

To be feared, for us He has sought

He terrible, God awesome He

Shall deal with evil, He shall be

Terror to such, e'en prince and king

Who do Him not true worship bring

* This recalls the deliverance of God's people when He turned back

the Red Sea on the Egyptians, their enemies.
