My sweet Kula bear, with open paws you are always there. Our bond is strong, I've known you for so long.
When I got the news today it broke my heart, I can't imagine us being apart. You're in so much pain, you'll never be the same.
Why does cancer have to take you away. I wish that you could just stay. I'll be with you through it all, whatever diagnostics big or small.
When it's you're time by you're side I will be, I'll help you let go, I'll set you free.
You have a special place in the stars, as I look up I know where you are. I will miss you my sweet Kula bear... Know that I love you, and how much I care.

- Comment from author about the poem: Found out today one of my patients I've known for 6+ years was diagnosed with bone cancer, he has less then 6 months to live.. He is the sweetest dog I've ever met, he adopted me! I need him more then he needs me honestly, our bond is unbreakable.. his family and me are very close I adore them. I am broken hearted, and devastated! Kula will always have a special place in my heart, I have to be strong for him!! I'll never forget...
