Endless War

poetboy5454

For so long, I've lived on this battlefield

Yet I have no blade and a broken shield

The only weapon is my cause, in this endless war

In my weighted heart, I carry truth, that is what I'm fighting for

As do many others in this world that has tore

Hatred spreading like a virus among our ranks

We battle on with the love in our hearts

Fires begin to spread, we flee to the riverbank

Surrounded, ready to die to do our part

But in my head I'm screaming, "I don't want to die!"

So I fight with every ounce of who I am

Knowing I haven't done all I can, I keep my head high

So many unfulfilled dreams, I can't let this be a sham

I will fight on in this endless war

Even though I've seen this earth tore

Not just through missiles but with ravaging hate

I refuse to leave it up to fate

I'm taking it within my hands

Together we can free these lands

And one day end this endless war

This is a very mature write. Wars will not stop all the time those in power do not listen to the people they allegedly rule.

I believe that one day that will end. But we will see
