Fits tune: Jerusalem
('And did those feet in ancient times')
Based on Psalm 75
********
Unto you, O God, unto you
We give you thanks, you us renew
Your wondrous work they do declare
That your name near, your presence fair
When the Lord the peoples recive
He will judge uprightly, not leave
Them in a poor estate, but shall act
Committed to them, cov'nant pact
The earth and all inhabitants
Are dissolved, removed from their tents
The Lord the world's pillars up bers
The foolish of His grace no shares
For He did speak, did to them say
Deal not foolishly, and your way
Lift not on high, be proud no more
Speak not with stiff neck, not self-sure
For promotion comes not from east
Nor from west, south, north, not in least
But God the judge is, puts down one
Sets up another, it is done
For in the hand of the Lord is
Cup of red wine, and mixed, no bliss
For dregs thereof wicked shall taste
Their evil deeds shall go to waste
But I for ever will declare
Sing praises to my God, right there
Within His temple, in His land
For He has saved us by His hand
All strength of wicked He cuts off
Though they may view and to Him scoff
Yet strength of righteous as horns bold
Shall be exalted, all be told

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8. metre. I think some of the original hymn is bunkum and far-fetched! Apologies if in Shropshire, when the line appears 'dark Satanic mills!'

Very good work here.
Thanks Write.
Another for the hymn book Orchi.
Thanks all. Soul - I mean that Shropshire is part of England. Don't know why they chose it to go with the line about 'dark Satanic mills'! - whatever they are?!
