Seeking God in the Stillness

Seeking God in the Stillness

Lying on the grass watching the clouds go by.
As though God has creative bursts of energy ,blowing bubbles heavenward in an endless display of beauty and variability.
They look ethereal in their shapes and patterns.

Look at the trees, the beauty of their shape. The tree standing lonesome in a field suggesting the solitude of the mystic. The weathering reflecting the storms of life and the erosion of experience.
Ah the Pain of the midyears of life, grey hairs and growing older

Where is the path that leads to life? Not just eternity, but life here in the present. Where is the wisdom for living, - the light to illuminate our path?
Stumbling in the dark, prisoners without light, groping through a tunnel in the hope of coming out of the darkness. Hope recedes and the tunnel is laid bare, the lie exposed.

The feelings of bleak confinement beat out its rhythm like an African dance. The hypnotic beat of words and rhythm. Heat and sweat.
Struggle
Stillness
Solitude
Silence

All words that give us a sense of being in a place devoid of noise.
A scary Place where we are alone and devoid of others.
Walking down the country lane

Walking down a country lane. Watching the dog sniff, and running through the grass. Seeing the birds grace the sky with a distinctive song luring the would be wonderer into raptures of delight. Beyond the alienation of solitude there is a place of creative stillness, a place of silence, a place where the mortal and the immortal meet.

Yes there is a meeting point, a place for gazing, a place where reason sleeps and wisdom remerges. Oh the delight of listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in the inward places, and the whispers his love.

What is love? whispers in the stillness
Dare we ask?
Do you think we can?
A question rarely asked, the lady called ”Love”
the Cinderella of the truth and dogma A dowdy image for a noble person.

Truth on the other hand went to the ball with Pontius Pilate. She shone out like a dazzling, glistening, glimmering star, but then dissolved like invisible ink when she was tainted with the wicked stepmother,” political expediency” - nickname “pragmatism and the washing of hands”.

What is love? Who is love?
Jesus said that he would lay down his life for his friends.

Love is the still small voice to those who listen.

Love is a voice of appreciation and intimacy

Love is the neighbour who lives next door

Love is the name of the one who records no wrong

Love is to abide more and more in the presence of God and those around.

Jesus said love the lord your God with all your heart with all your mind and with all your strength and love your neighbour as yourself.
