Victory Voicings

Fits tune: King's Weston

(One tune to 'At the name of Jesus')

Based on Psalm 108 part

********

O God, my heart is fixed

My motives unmixed

I will sing and give praise

My tongue will you raise

Awake, harp, psaltery

I wake early, see

I will praise you, O Lord

Hearken to your word

I will praise you anew

Among people true

And praises to you sing

Nation's voices ring

For your mercies are great

They do ne'er abate

And your truth it reaches

Above cloud's vaultings

O God, be exalted

By you we are fed

And let your glory be

Above all earth, see

That your here beloved

May be delivered

Save now with your right hand

Protect us, your land

God here He has spoken

Shown us His token

He remains still holy

Rejoicing shall be

He Lord o'er all peoples

He enemy stills

Though seems we are off cast

Your purposes [they] last

We shall still you e'er seek

Humbly now, and meek

Give us help from trouble

Vain man's help, we fall

But through you God, we shall

Do valiant, tell

Of your saving power

O'er enemies bower*

* bower = dwelling

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.5.6.5.6.5.6.5. - or can be called 6.5.6.5.D. (D is for doubled). More than one tune to this. I'm thinking of the tune with the 7-note introduction to each verse.
