Fits tune: St Gertrude

('Onward, Christian soldiers')

Based on Psalm 89 v.1 -10

**********

Chorus

O Lord God, God of hosts

Who is strong like you?

Who like to you faithful

Great in glory too?

I will sing of mercies

Of the Lord for e'er

With my mouth will make known

Generations share

In His faithfulness sure

Mercy shall be built

Built for ever, this your word

None can hinder, stilt - Chorus

He a covenant made

With His chosen one

David , he His servant

Christ, His only Son

David's seed for ever

Would established be

Built up his throne would sure

Be for evermore - Chorus

The heavens shall thus praise

Your wonders, Lord, true

And your faithfulness sing

Congregation too

For who in the heaven

To the Lord compares?

Who among the people strong

His same glory shares? - Chorus

God, greatly to be feared

When saints gather near

And be had in reverence

Of those round Him here

Rage of seas you rule o'er

When the waves arise

You do then quiet still them

Each one do down-size - Chorus

And enemy peoples

You have broken, slain

They be gone and scattered

None [be]'fore you remain

Your strong arm has lightened

Descended with power

Triumphant your victory

'Tis seen every hour - Chorus
