Fits tune: Monks Gate
(He who would valiant be' OR 'Who would true valour see')
Based on Psalm 77
**********
I cried to God with my voice
And made Him my choice
He did give ear to me
My trouble did see
I sought Him when my soul
Was troubled, was not whole
When comforts flew away
Darkening my day
I God remembered, see
Complained I, for He
Holds my eyes waking, so
No sweet sleep I know
My spirit o'erwhelmed then
And could not speak when
In troubles, distressed I
To your grace did fly
I considered days of old
Years past I retold
Called unto remembrance
Songs, praises, from thence
Communed with my own heart
My spirit searched each part
Diligently to know
Why my state now so?
Will the Lord forever cast
Us off, we gone, past?
Will He favour no more
Help humble, meek, poor?
Is His mercy full gone
His light's beam no more shone
Does His promise fail e'er
Blessings no more share?
Has God forgotten to be
Gracious, now Him see
Has He in anger rose
Tender mercies close[d]?
This my infirmity
I said, but let it be
But I still Him recall
His times, one and all
I will His works remember
Swiftly, not defer
His wonders of old wrought
His people He bought
Redeemed from enemy
Crossing dry land, Red Sea
Waters stood as a heap
His own did He keep
Of your words I meditate
You, O God, here great
Of your doings I talk
In my daily walk
Your way, O God, it be
Within the sanctuary
None great a God as you
Wonders do you do
You your strength have declared
Your people well fared
You redeemed with strong arm
Your own kept from harm
Thunderous voice out sent
Before your own you went
Moses, Aaron, your sheep led
By your hand all fed

A bouquet of reasons why spiritual questions find answers in faith. A great read my friend.
Good write.
Thanks all.
