To a Road Sign.

Garry

Gilwilly industrial estate.

That's the one I'd be,

If I was one.

How about you?

My wife said she'd be

Featherstone Heveroh Huff.

But that's just silly

I think she made it up

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have seen the sign several times on the A66 just outside Penrith and it's always seemed a nice name. Passing it today this came to me. Just a bit of silliness for troubled times. What wierd things our brains do! Who or what might we be if we could?

    Love this.

Let me assure you, something I'd hate,
is to bear the name of the Bogside Estate
I'd rather be known as Pilkington Flinck
A far better name I'm inclined to think.
