Vivien Leigh

Vivien

Did I write you these words,
 Would that be so absurd,
To think that I could make them rhyme,
When really its just a way to pass the time,
Till I can see you again,
 My friend Vivian.

 Movies memories and magic,
Can make a life somehow tragic,
Yet the fans they stood in line,
To see your face in Technicolor® every time.

 Inside the studio wall,
 I watched each curtain call,
 With every clapboard strike,
 I held a boom mic,
 Worshipping you from afar,
For I was nobody and you the star.

Stars will shine until they burn out,
I read the screenplay “that’s what life is all about”,
 For some its “15 minutes”,
 And others 80 years,
But all will fall from the sky that is clear.

The stars that shine brighter than others,
These are the ones we call lovers,
 And they captivate our heart,
Knowing the right lines they get the part.

In the theater I held your hand,
Popcorn and peanuts ain’t life grand,
 Was it 1940 or 52,
When I see you on the screen, God I miss you,
And I ask myself when will I see you again,
 My friend
 Vivien
