Palms Passion

Fits tune: Laus Deo

('Bright the vision that delighted')

Based on part of Matthew Chapter 21

********

Jesus rides on humble donkey

Here a fair procession see

Singing, shouting, loud Hosanna

Raising palms as love's banner

'Hosanna', 'Save now, Lord', they cry

Yet later they bid Him die

Through religion's cruel inciting

'Crucify', now voices ring

Tensions mounting, yet God's will done

Prayed in garden, only Son

Not my will but yours be done sure

Father-Son love evermore

Lowly beast transports the Saviour

See the whole city does stir

In Jerusalem, the place where

God's Temple situate[d] be

Grant our hearts may trust in you whole

Your praises, Saviour, extol

To keep Temple, your house of prayer

Den of thieves it cannot share

May we continue on daily

You our guide and helper be

Follow in your victory, lead us

If path smooth, rough, still us bless

I could not find words and music clip. Maybe it's OK, as the original hymn and words are of Isaiah's vision.
