Fits tune: St Agnes
('Jesus the very thought of Thee')
Based on John 13 v.1 - 15
*********
An upper room disciples made
All items set and laid
For Jesus with them then to share
In fine communion fare
During supper, Jesus arose
All things sure there He knows
Knowing now had come His hour
Yet still He showed God's power
His love, His care, compassion true
Will serve both me and you
As He did love, and loves us still
Fulfilling Father's will
So He arose, disciples feet
He would wash, that was meet
In service as their Lord, Master
Grace on them did confer
In humble deeds, example set
He gently their needs met
Nor taken up with over-care
Of load He chose to bear
Chose to bear for our sakes, that we
Redeemed by Him may be
He would love all unto the end
Then death's strongholds did rend
Risen from tomb on Easter morn
Bright beams, salvation's dawn
He died once, now to die no more
Now lives for evermore

Good write. Was Steward at our Church's Maundy Thursday Service last night, I am sure that this my favourite Service in the Church's year.
Thanks G.
