Fits tune: Judas Maccabaeus
('Thine be the glory')
Based on John 20 v.1 - 18
********
Hail, Easter fair morn, resurrection dawn
Mary comes to tomb now, though her heart was torn
Saw the stone was rolled away, the entrance clear
Mighty and mysterious, special events here
Chorus
Angel announces, Jesus is not here
Burst the grave for ever, His victories appear
Peter and John hastened to that tomb too
There to be amazed by wondrous doings new
For they saw tomb empty, Christ He was not there
They would see Him risen, in His glories share - Chorus
Linen clothes lying, burial garments white
Christ had overcome death, turns our dark to light
And Mary too seeking, weeping there distressed
She Jesus' voice recognised, was truly blessed - Chorus
'Twas by her name called, Jesus spoke to her
'Mary' said He to her, then her heart did stir
'Rabboni', 'Master', was her sure reply
Now she knew that Christ would never, never die - Chorus
So she instructed by Jesus did go
And to the disciples the glad tidings show
That the Lord she had seen, He was risen indeed
Great comforts, Good Shepherd, He would still them feed - Chorus
