Death of Beauty

Naeners

She's wonderful
Absolutely beautiful
Gorgeous, fantastic
And completely unforgettable
I look into her eyes
And I see the whole world
Not what it is
But what it should be

She not doing well
She's going through hell
Clinging to her death bed
Pain to horrible to tell
I look into her eyes
And I see surrender
Not what she deserves
But what she has

She's dead
Too much is left unsaid
What was once perfection
Is cold and lifeless instead
I look into her eyes
And I see nothing
Not what it should be
But what it is

  • Comment from author about the poem: I've been around a lot of death lately. So I'm not the happiest person right now but I'll muddle through. I wrote this and I didn't even have to think about it this is my first draft and probably my final draft. I think it's good for what it is. Please tell me what you think. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.

"too much is left unsaid".I think this is a beautiful phrase and conjures up lots of emotion. It is at the heart of lots of my poems. (" the last goodbye", "you were and now you're not" and several others) so it's an image that always means a lot to me.
