Kidnapped in Baghdad

Dave poet

A convoy of vehicles through Baghdad,
Carry evil worse than hell,
Upon the ministry they descend,
As they scream they shout they yell,
Five British men they
take away,
Bundled in some cars,
Mehdi Army take the blame,
These prisoners are now
Ours.

Tony Blair makes a vow,
To never stop the search,
But the British government never moved,
Just sat there on her perch,
Too slow to act too dumb to talk too selfish to even care,
Through the motions the government go,
Whilst friends and family despair.

As time passed and lies were told and nothing ever changed,
No real proof who took our men or rescue was arranged,
But a tiny hope was sent to us,
A trade was to take place,
They were in the hands of Shiite,
So time was now a race,

News had come we couldn't wait,
We've had two back they said,
We waited for the names to come,
Instead we're told their dead.
Gordon Brown now in charge,
Says we'll never rest,
His words seemed so convincing,
but well rehearsed and well addressed.

After five long years
we hear the news
that none of them survived,
'Twas around the April twenty eight
Alec Maclachlan died,
No justice brought for the four,
Tortured till they dead,
Both prime ministers lied to us,
Publicly lied with what they said,

Four young men with families,
will never be forgot.
Some friends were made a special bond,
Friends I love a lot.
Rest in piece our four boys,
Alec Alan and the J's,
Remember the four and we won't forget,
For all our living days.

In memory of
Alec. MacLachlan
Alan. Mcmenemy
Jason. Swindlehurst
Jason. Creswell
Remember the four
Murdered in a dusty dirty lawless country.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Alec MacLachlan was my very good friend. I have met so many wonderful people through this tragedy but lost him. PTSD and a unhealthily addiction to finding terrorists took over my life and my political views sent me to prison. I have a lot to say but must find the words.

I will remember these brothers in arms of yours and because of my faith tradition I will pray for their souls as well. Yours too (for forgiveness and healing). Thanks for sharing.
