beach

caroline-o

i sat by the ocean

oh what a beautiful place to be

away from commotion

just the moon, the sand, and me

and i, for once, felt calm

no more war, no more cries

a subtle grasp from the ocean's palm

i became aware of my size

and in that moment

i am no one

nothing at all

it wouldn't matter if i were ten. feet. tall.

i still would mean nothing at all

  • Comment from author about the poem: Wow it's been a while since I've posted. Also, this poem was very spontaneous so excuse me if it is poorly written. I miss posting on here however, so you can expect a few more poems sometime in the future.

I find the power of the ocean to be a great leveller. Akin to sitting amid the hills of a windswept day or beneath the tapestry of stars on a clear night. Each of those teach me of my insignificance and somehow bring a peace to my frustrations.
