In This Moment

Jakiki

My troubled heart can't help but wonder

Not merely what if

Or if only if only

Only, if there's a difference

In this life or the unlived possibilities

Would be

Could be

Should be

Could never

Should never

Would never

These lines these

Words dividing reality

Creating the unseen paradox we forever shift through

Cluelessly rippling through time

Glimpsing its echo in the quiet of the night.

WELCOME JAKIKI ~ Thanks for your first poem ~ lov the question it poses ................ WHAT IF ? Every day we make small decisions ~ which guide the course of our lives. BUT every year we make some BIG decisions which alter the course of our lives ~ then we begin to worry WHAT IF ~ i had studied a different subject at University (MEDICINE instead of ART) What if I'd got a Job as a Teacher instead of an unemployed actor ! What if I'd married X instead of Y etc etc ~ we could drive ourselves mad ~ In LIFE & LOVE we cant go back to GO and start again ~ we have to carry on and live with the decisions we have made ! SAINT PAUL said I know whatever State I find myself in I am CONTENT. That is one of the secrets of a Happy Life ! Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my poems ~ Thanks B.

Thank you for your comment, though you are missing the key point to this poem. By asking "what if" you are looking into a parallel universe. Here I am questioning that world as it intertwines with this one, not necessarily wanting to make a change but to see the differences.

Thanks JAKIKI ~ I accept your comment and it is a question we all ask our selves ~ How and where and what would we be if we had made different choices and could meet our ALTAR EGO at the same age we are now ~ but having made DIFFERENT CHOICES ~ That scenario was enshrined in my answer but the TWO PEOPLE never met ~ I implied ONE PERSON but with a different outcome. I had a Twin Brother who died at 4 months and i wrote some notes as if he had lived ~ but of course he made different (but similar) choices to me and ~ of course ~ ended up different. I have read studies of wins reared apart and often ~ despite having no physical contact for 50 or more years ~ they still do very similar things ! How different do you think the choices of your ALTER EGO would be different from yours. Remember that like MONOZYGOTIC TWINS your alter ego would have the same DNA as you do ~ OK Very intriguing ~ BRIAN

Your are right in your point. I still think you misunderstand. Look at it from Gods point of view, seeing any and all. Giving us the power of free will he sees where each of our desioins cause a split in time and space.

My troubled heart can't help but wonder
        Not merely what if
        Or if only if only
        Only, if there's a difference

I want to be able to see into each parallel I create just and only for the sake of seeing. I think it would be a beauty, the the intraket threads of a spiders web creating but one masterpiece.
