Fits tune: Lyngham
(one tune to 'O for a thousand tongues to sing')
Note: this is the tune that has the 'repeats' or 'extensions'
on some of the lines.
Psalm 98
********
1. O sing unto the LORD a song
If old, new, short, or long (repeat second line of each verse once)
For He has done marvellous things
Creation to Him sings (repeat last line of each verse twice)
2. His right hand, and His holy arm
Has brought victory, balm
The LORD His salvation made known
He all the world has shown
3. His righteousness displayed openly
To all heathen, they see
He has remembered His truth, mercy
To His people it be
4. And all the ends of the earth have seen
God's salvation, not mean
But extending to all the world
His love's banner unfurled
5. Unto the LORD make a joyful noise
Men, women, girls, and boys
Make a loud noise, noise to be heard
To Christ, th' eternal Word
6. Rejoice, sing praises, loud outburst
For redeemed now, not cursed
Are we, for Christ took penalty
That should by due ours be
7. Sing to the Lord with harp and psalm
He brings to lives His calm
With trumpets, cornets, joyful extol
The LORD, King over all
8. Let the sea roar, and all therein
The world and all within
Let the floods their hands clap, be glad
No more now mourn or sad
9. Let the hills be joyful, as one
Before the LORD, for none
Shall stop His judgement of the earth
He shall judge with true worth
10. For He does come, He shall return
And all nations shall learn
That He shall judge with righteousness
And with equity bless

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8686 8686 metre (= Common Metre Doubled, or CMD). The tune allows for extra occasional syllables to be sneaked in - but only an extra one on some lines. Have a rip-roaring sing-song! Well, it does say 'make a loud noise' (verses 5 & 6).

You got a harp, or psalm, or trumpet, or cornet there to play (verse 7)?!
A glorious reminder of our dependence upon God's mercy and forgiving nature . I enjoy reading your words that glorify God's name .
Thanks S.
He will come.
Thanks G/F.
