The Hunger

poetboy123

Knocking down one tree

Just to have another rise in front of me

And I grin relishing the chance

Of a trial, locked in its dance

I feel something, something I've never felt before

I witness the opportunity to even the score

A hunger rises from deep within

A need to be fulfilled, another contest I have to win

So I go above and beyond, nothing holding me back

Driven by a force unchallenged, no effort to lack

Because I'm there to succeed, I'll use everything I have

Everything I am

Searching for everything I want to be

In others, more obstacles to be surpassed

And I'm speeding through, soaring from last

For I've tasted the bitterest failures, the vile bite

Risking for victory, not losing without a fight

Young people aren't allowed to fail at anything today. Every one gets a trophy. We forget that the bitterness of defeat is the stimulus to try harder to improve themselves. Great description of drive.

    Good write, keep pushing forward.
