Surviving the Night

poetboy123

For so long now I've been trying to sprint fast

Wanting to leave it behind and head toward tomorrow

But now that it's fading away, I'm gripping my past

Hanging on to both the joy and sorrow, not letting go

All the abandoned memories wash upon my shore

Whether glass shards or seashells, each one I adore

As I am pulled away by the waves into the light

Either the calm before the storm or a whole new plight

This sea has cleansed my lies leaving me pure

No longer the same, no never again the same

Despite that, I'll grin through every challenge I have to endure

Steering through the rain beckoned to my aim

I'll embrace every scar and every tear

Live through each trial and face all my fears

Every moment that has passed, I'll remember

Even if they're only dying embers

The future starts now, I'll head in with delight

Enjoying the moments and surviving the night
