Worthwhile

Eric

The things I fear I dread to fear

The things I hear not always clear

The things I see not always easy

To erase from my mind, never easy

Twisted metal or on a random floor

Always an unknown through that door

Grasping for life or already died

Hoping in the end I'll know I tried

A life just started or one near the end

When taken to soon it's hard to pretend

Loved ones distraught I keep my emotions

Their tragedy requires complete devotion

When death steps aside and life prevails

Overwhelming happiness never fails

An aged grin or a youthful smile

Helping in someway makes it seem worthwhile

Sounds like the point of view of someone who tries to save lives, knowing sometimes people don't make it but he puts in his best so he can know he tried. Lovely work
