Resurrection Reassurance

orchidee

Fits tune: Gelobt Sei Gott = God be praised

('Christ is the King! O friends rejoice')

1 Thessalonians 4 v.13 - 18

********

1. Here be much comfort and hope strong

Resurrection joys all life long

Praise Christ in celebration song

Alleluia! Alleluia! With angel throng

2. For if we believe that He died

And rose again, no one beside

Him our salvation could provide

Alleluia! Alleluia! In Him confide

3. If that our faith, then hope have we

That those asleep in Him we see

When the Lord returns for His own

Alleluia! Alleluia! His mercies shown

4. Those alive then shall not precede

Those now asleep, they shall indeed

Rise first, share in His victory

Alleluia! Alleluia! her glories be

5. For the Lord Himself shall descend

To bring eternal day, no end

His shout, and archangel's voice heard

Alleluia! Alleluia! True is His word

6. And too the trumpet of God sound

At that high day it shall redound

The dead in Christ be first to rise

Alleuia! alleluia! Look to the skies

7. Then we which are alive shall be

Caught up together with them, see

In the clouds gathered, meet Him we

Alleluia! Alleluia! E'er with Him be

8. Bold source of comfort, hope assured

For Christ grace on us has outpoured

Spread forth the word of life and peace

Alleluia! Alleluia! Joys that ne'er cease

There seems to be a progression anyway- those 'asleep' (those who have died) shall rise first. I suppose those who are alive at the time won't need resurrecting, as they won't be 'asleep' (dead).
